Dr Devendra Janardhan Makesar completed his MBBS & MD followed by a Diploma in Psychological Medicine in 2001, the MRCPsych (UK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Medicine in 2003, and later an Masters in Healthcare Law & Ethics in 2012.

 His specialist career began in 2007 with Hywel Dda NHS Trust and University Health Board in the UK, progressing to consultant roles in General Psychiatry with Powys Local Health Board (2007–2009) and then Forensic Psychiatry from 2009 to 2015.

 In UK, he also served as Honorary Consultant in Alcohol and Substance Misuse Services (2014–2015) and as Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry and the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (2015–2016). In March 2019, he was awarded the FRANZCP.

Since October 2016, he has been Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Psychiatry at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals in Perth, reflecting a long-standing commitment to high‑quality mental healthcare across public and private sectors. He also holds a adjunct teaching portfolio for Curtin university and UWA in Perth.
