This honour is reserved for psychiatrists who have made substantial contributions to the College’s core objectives—setting standards and promoting excellence in mental health care, supporting the profession, and collaborating with patients, carers, and partner organisations. He also holds a Master in Laws (LLM) from Northumbria University, UK.

Following his relocation to Australia in 2018, Dr. Rooprai obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, further cementing his standing as a specialist across a broad range of psychiatric conditions. His clinical expertise includes:

From March 2024 to November 2025, he served as Medical Co‑Director for the State Forensic Mental Health Services, leading the service through a period of strategic planning and major expansion.

His academic and research interests are equally noteworthy. He has contributed as an editor to a textbook on Forensic Psychiatry and remains actively involved in research. His current work focuses on the intersection of technology and mental health, including the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for risk prediction, as well as the development of wearable technologies for remote patient monitoring.

Dr. Rooprai’s commitment to advancing mental health care—through clinical practice, leadership, education, and research—continues to shape his contributions to the field.
